What is Hell Let Loose: Vietnam?
Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is a standalone multiplayer tactical first-person shooter developed by Expression Games and published by Team17, built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. It takes the large-scale realism of the WW2 original and transplants it to the Vietnam War, pitting up to 50 US soldiers against 50 North Vietnamese Army fighters in chaotic 100-player battles.
50v50 Battles
100 players split into two 50-strong armies fight over five sectors in a chaotic, squad-based tug-of-war.
NVA Tunnel Networks
North Vietnamese forces build extensive tunnel systems to move, spawn and ambush the US out of sight.
US Huey Helicopters
US-only air support delivers troops, drops supplies and fires on enemy positions — a major faction asymmetry.
Sector Meta-Game
Garrisons, outposts and munitions/manpower/fuel resources drive the RTS-inspired strategic layer of every match.
The game keeps the series' RTS-inspired strategic meta-game — sectors, garrisons, outposts and munitions/manpower/fuel resources — while adding era-specific systems: buildable NVA tunnel networks, US-only helicopters, heavily armed patrol boats on extensive river networks, and enhanced movement like swimming, climbing and dragging wounded allies out of fire.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I play Hell Let Loose: Vietnam?+
Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is a 50v50 tactical FPS. Each team of 50 players is split into squads led by Squad Leaders who report to a single Commander. You capture and hold sectors on the map — control the majority, or all five, to win. Work with your squad, place garrisons and outposts for spawn points, and use role-specific weapons and abilities to outfight the enemy.
What is the Warfare game mode?+
Warfare is the flagship mode: a tug-of-war confrontation where two 50-strong teams fight for control over 5 sectors on a large map. Each sector must be fully captured to move to the next. Holding the majority of sectors — or all five — wins the match. Garrisons, outposts and commander abilities are central to controlling the flow.
How many maps are in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam?+
The game launches with 6 large-scale maps: Thanh Hóa Bridge and Đắk Tô Airfield are confirmed, alongside jungle, rice paddy, river delta and central highlands theatres inspired by real Vietnam War battles like Operation Starlite and Operation Piranha. Map details are still being confirmed before the August 13 2026 launch.
How many roles are there?+
Steam lists 17 battle roles spread across 6 battlefield units: Command, Infantry, Recon, Armour, Helicopter and Mortar. Roles include Squad Leader, Rifleman, Grenadier, Machine Gunner, Medic, Engineer, Specialist, Sniper, Spotter, Tank Commander, Crewman, Pilot, Logistics Officer, Mortar Gunner, Mortar Observer and Mortar Support.
How do NVA tunnels work?+
The NVA faction can build extensive underground tunnel networks across the map. Tunnels act as hidden movement and spawn routes that let North Vietnamese forces appear behind US lines and ambush squads in the jungle. They are a defining asymmetric advantage for the NVA and a key target for US recon units.
Are helicopters US-only?+
Yes. Huey helicopters are an exclusive US asset. They deliver troops to hot zones, drop supplies to garrisons and provide fire support from the air. The NVA has no helicopters — instead they rely on tunnel networks, ambushes and their own ground vehicles to counter US air power.
How long is a match?+
Matches in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam typically last 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the mode and how evenly matched the teams are. Warfare's five-sector tug-of-war can swing back and forth, while a dominant side can end a match faster by securing all sectors or reaching the final objective.
Does Hell Let Loose: Vietnam have crossplay?+
Crossplay was playtested in 2026 and is planned, but PC and console crossplay will not be available at launch on August 13. The game releases on Steam, Microsoft Store and Epic Games Store for Windows, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S store pages already live for a later console release.
Is Hell Let Loose: Vietnam worth buying?+
If you enjoyed the large-scale, squad-based realism of Hell Let Loose, Vietnam is a strong buy. It keeps the deep tactical meta-game while adding era-specific systems — helicopters, tunnels, patrol boats and new movement. Pre-purchase is live with a 10% discount on both the Standard ($39.99) and Deluxe ($59.99) editions.
When does Hell Let Loose: Vietnam release?+
Hell Let Loose: Vietnam launches on August 13, 2026 on Windows via Steam, Microsoft Store and Epic Games Store. Pre-purchase is live now with a 10% discount, and an open beta will be held before release. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions have store pages but no confirmed date yet.
